The driving point of view is the hardships she had to overcome on her journey to help herself and her family. Ma Mary focused mostly on her travel from Liberia to Ghana and what it was like walking to the border. She shared the struggles to get food, safe shelter and money.  Ma Mary’s central driver in the story was her will to survive.
